How To Do A Free Background Check

Have you ever wondered how you would go about doing a free background check on someone? Well, it's much easier than you think! Here are 5 easy ways to do that background check for free:

1. Use the Internet
The Internet is both free and contains lots of information. You can keep your background checks free by entering the name and details of the target person you want to check in one of the larger online search engines, such as Yahoo! or Google. You should be able to find something on the Internet, like their previous employment history, schools, residential address, that can give you a lead in the next phase of your free background search.

2. Use the justice system
The justice system is free for all to use. So if you want to find out if your target person has had any judgements, liens or lawsuits against them, just check the database at your local court. Of course, if you want to do a federal search of the target person, you may need to go a little further than your local court house - but not much further.

3. State records search
Most states have legal requirements that any resident of the state register their real estate ownership. So, a check of the person's name should tell you if they own property in that state. Likewise, most states require companies registered in that state to register who their shareholders and executives are with the state records department. Therefore, any search should show up what stockholding they have in companies registered in that state. You may also be able to find out if they have any other assets registered with the state registrar when you do your free search.

4. Address history
Everyone who has ever been listed in a phone book has, as a matter of course, their address held on public record. A number of databases are available in libraries that collate this information. So, if you want to do a free search of someone's address history over, say, the last 10 years, you can check one of these databases.

5. Births, deaths and marriages
All births, deaths and marriages are now a matter of public record. So, if you want to find out if your target has ever been married before, or when they were born, all you need to do is undertake a free search.

There are so many ways you can conduct a free background search, these are just a few to get you started.
